Not her fault


In 2020, WAGGGS contacted me to translate the victim blaming activity kit for the 16 Days of Activism.
One of the difficulties of this task revolved around which expressions and titles to translate and which to keep in English.
On the one hand, it is important for international campaigns to have consistent hashtags, so that everyone uses the same ones to create a sense of belonging to the campaign.
On the other hand, the main objective of the resource is to raise awareness among young girls. If they do not understand what is being said to them, they cannot have an effective understanding of the topic.
The solution I found was therefore to translate the expressions into English AND to keep the hashtags in English in the parts that directly had to do with the marketing aspect of the campaign.
